I don't know about Springfield, but Joplin has a recycling center that will take about any kind of fluid. The phone number is 417-624-0820. They are at 1310 W. A St., Joplin. I hope this is still a good number--I haven't called it in awhile.

Many thanks to the hard-working folks, Justin, Curtis, and others, who went to extra lengths to make sure all the gravel was off the lot enough so we could play on it. It was good to be back at Ducks. I know the site has a lot of problems and probably will continue to deteriorate with the use that i...

This is a really great story. Thanks, Jim, for posting it. One of the wonderful things about autocross is that anyone can drive in off the street and compete, and with practice and talent, but with not much money, excel.

Hey Stan,

I signed up for the Challenge school today. When I registered it said April 3rd, Saturday. Uh, April 3rd is a Sunday unless my calendar is wrong, so I just want to make sure that we are doing the Challenge on Sunday, right?

How are entries looking as of now?

Hey Y'all,

I hope this is not like when I was a kid, when sides were chosen for softball. I always had to play right field. Argh!

Stan, Thanks for the report, and I'm glad you had a good time and good runs. I don't think Opie has taken his motor apart yet so no info on what went wrong. My heart grieves a little for any good motor that has an untimely demise, not to mention sorry for Opie. Wow, 70 per? Were you in 2nd or 3rd? M...

National Tour Report

Hey out there to the folks that went to the Blythville tour event. I've heard about Opie's engine....anyone like to give us the low-down on the rest of the event and how they or anyone else did? Or maybe even a different version of Opie's travails. Any successes or improvements? Entertaining stories...

Craig,

I've got four really ragged out 275/40-17 Kumhos you can have for free if you dismount them. I don't think there is any cord showing but there is no stick left either.

Stan, Are you a salesman? That logic is really getting to me! I'm going....YES! That makes a lot of sense....wait....I don't need another car....but on the other hand---yeah, a Mustang to complete my collection of Ford icons. What? I don't have a collection and don't want a collection. But I could b...

Hey Stan,

Another time, another place and I would be all over this car. Not now though. I've enough projects. But I know every nut and bolt on that car.

Pitt State Autocross: directions and motels

Hello all Pitt State autocrossers, Pittsburg State University is in--you guessed it--Pittsburg, KS. The autocross will be right behind the football stadium, the same place as last year. The campus address is 1701 S. Broadway, but the stadium is on Joplin St. about three blocks east. To get to Pittsb...

Hey All,

Most likely I will be interested in another Evo. I especially like the idea of a Challenge, although I'm sure a repeat of Phase 1 or 2 will be helpful. I keep seeing areas where I make the same mistakes. Can a (ahem) medium aged dog learn new tricks?

Welcome Tim,

I didn't meet you yesterday, but I am glad you came out. Since you have a Mustang, I am interested to see what you have. Look me up at Crowder on Aug. 8...I'll be in the black one with silver stripes.

Well, here's a report card, as well as I can remember, of the best runs of last night's fun drags at MoKan of OMR folk. Bobby brought Frank and ran 12.3. Opie surprised everyone, including himself I think, and ran 12.6. Dave and his classic Vette and John in his C-5 both ran around 13.3. I think Phi...

I was thinking that since OMR uses the PAX index to determine who wins overall in autocross, why couldn't it be applied to drag racing to determine who is fastest across classes. Well, that sounds good in theory, but in practice I think it won't work very well. For example, let's say an ESP car runs...
