simple bodywork question

Post by stanbell » Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:55 am

need to replace a plastic exterior trim piece on my 911. under the broken portion, looks like some kind of foam rubber adhesive.

any advice how to remove and best adhesive to replace with? w/o paint work, of course.

any help appreciated.

If this "foam rubber adhesive" is actually more of a double sided tape like most trim pieces are attached with.... once the damaged trim piece is removed and all that is left is the tape.... you could use a couple of methods..

1. your thumb (which equals instant blister)
2. 3m adhesive remover and a plastic razor blade
3. die grinder with rubber eraser wheel

none will harm the paint if done with caution...

hope that helps... :)
