I'm hearing that the lot at Crowder Truck Driver Training Center still has not solidified enough to support an autocross. IMO, chances of OMR running an event on Oct. 2nd are VERY SLIM.

Background for those autocrossers who might have missed some of the details this summer.....the lot at Crowder which OMR used in the past was leased to F.E.M.A. after the Joplin tornado....the Truck Driver Training Center paved a smaller, nearby field for its own purposes but the new lot saw little usage this summer because the high temperatures and lack of rain prevented the pavement from curing.....waiting for the lot to cure, OMR "made do" (thanks to Bud Weeks) with a small lot at Downstream Casino Resort in extreme northeast Oklahoma....availability of the Downstream lot is on a "case-by-case" basis...a number of other lots throughout the Ozarks have been investigated by various OMR Board members since June 1, but no lots on a par with the original Crowder lot have been located.

We (Matt) finally got a response from Darrin today, and the lot is still pulling up aggregate when warm. 10/2 at Crowder is probably a no-go. If an alternate site reveals itself, the event will still be on.

We have not found an alternative site for this weekend and this event has been canceled.

We encourage anyone that might have ideas for future alternative sites, know someone at a site that could help get a club representative a meeting with a site manager, or just be willing to help otherwise to show up to the Board meeting next Tuesday Oct. 4th.
