2012 Solo Schedule

Post by The Huff » Wed Feb 15, 2012 3:37 pm

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to get everybody up to speed on what we have in store for the the OMR 2012 Solo season. It looks like most of our events will be held at Ducks in Ozark and a few at Crowders smaller lot and possibly Downstream Casino. We may get the original Crowder site back next year.
Our 1st event will be March 18th at the new smaller lot at Crowder. Our 2nd event will be April 8th at Ducks in Ozark. For now, these are the only 2 confirmed dates but we will have the rest of the schedule confirmed within a week or so.

The original site? Any more details on that?

Also - will OMR be hosting a Divisional this year?

*edit* nvm - just saw Jim's MiDiv post

Do you know April 8th is Easter Sunday? That may be an issue for some.

Behind the scenes, regional schedule creation is like navigating a minefield. Not all venues are available every weekend for our choosing, and when they are, the club tries to not overlap with nearby/competing SCCA events to avoid scavenging participation. The mild weather of April and May make for an insanely busy calendar for motorsports, not to mention anything else held outdoors (baseball at Ducks, motorcycle/teen training at Crowder, etc.).

Saturday events are guaranteed significantly smaller turnouts. We've tried numerous times with our Solo program on the premise of avoiding church conflicts, and the reality is that no one really showed up. Sunday events are drastically more successful. In fact, Easter autocrosses have gone so well locally that they have been a sort of tradition in OMRSCCA.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but there is no complete updated schedule on our website. I was trying to find the best web link to send a new prospective member. Also, there are no directions or info on the Ducks site.

We'll definitely have the right info in place once registration opens for the 4/8 event at Ducks.

If Matt doesn't get to it first, I will try and put something together on the site tonight.

Jim if you have the chance I would appreciate it, I will probably be in the shop with Sam the next two nights finishing race cars. I got the MotorsportReg.com post and sanctions in last night but didn't get the opportunity to get the post around for the forums or homepage.

BTW if you go to MotorsportReg.com you can see the rest of the SOLO season is up, but you will not be able to pre-register for the next event until the following Wednesday after an event is held.
