Mothers Day Autocross!

Post by Crazy_Dog » Wed Mar 28, 2007 8:57 pm

It has been pointed out to me that I have a AX planned for mothers day. In my asking of opinions the best response has been by the RE: Rick Carr
Jonathan,
It used to be a tradition in the US that auto races were not held on Mothers
day out of respect for Mothers. I think that it was more due to the respect
of a Mother in regards to the dangers in Auto Racing. In today's day of
Marketing and safety the concept has all, but gone away. Have it if you
want? My opinion.

Rick

That said.

The mother’s day autocross will be run as previously scheduled

Make a note on your calendars and spread the word!

And those who wonder why Rick’s comment made me want to change the date?

I'm a nostalgia freak :P I like the old school way better than the new school.... respect is something long since lost in this world.

So you have no respect for the Easter Bunny?

In THIS commercialized world, I see no holidays or traditions as sacred anymore. Only things I consider to be important are my wife's bday and our anniversary, the rest are just days on a calender. So I guess my opinion does not really matter.

That is the date of a Pro-solo 2nd day event at Walnut Ridge.

I would have much rather had the Easter Holiday race changed, but was told I had to have 17 people to get it changed. I am not sure if there are even 17 "real" people that use this forum.

What was that I heard once about a goose and a gander??....

What would a "real" person be considered?

Anyway, the dates could make little difference to me. Like Ed said, it's just dates on a calendar. There are only about 2 that I really am concerned about, but they hardly ever interfere with an auto-x.

I'll just be out, whenever it is, to help Chris take some pictures. Who knows? maybe my brother in law will want to bring the grill out again this year... :D

How many members are in Ozark Mountain region>? How many members are on the list of members ? about 200.

There are not many who actually post stuff, that is all I meant.

Sorry, if I offended you.

Mother's Day

I don't know if you guys look at other schedules but I think it would be a good idea. The fewer conflicting dates the better. I don't know how many people are going to the Pro Solo but I know I am. I believe that a few of your main people (hardest workers) are going also. I know that most of your members never go to any other Solo2 events so I guess it only matters to the few of us that travel.

I vote we should leave the date!!!

...And you should sit and spin in your chair till you throw up!!!

Both good options!!!

i dont think anyone had anything against running on mothers day before!!!

Mums the Word autocross was one of the bigger ones a few years back!

And a big reason i vote thattaway is because we have an excellent schedual the way it is, it isnt conflicting! :P

I don't want to stir the pot but this year's schedule is not working for me at all. :? There are too many sat events which neither myself or most of my friends can make. (sat. busiest day in the car biz) Then when we have sun. events most of them are on holidays :( :(

I vote to change the dates. I see very little respect for the religeous holiday Easter. Its even been called a tradition to do it on Easter in previous years. That is one date I wont be there, or mothers day either. Whats the deal there? last year we went out of our way to make sure it wasnt on Fathers Day itself. I make special commitments to NOT go to church on sundays we autocross because I enjoy everyones company so much. I got a 100%ter last year when we didnt have the event on Easter. It's bothered me since I have been a member I havent brought it up before because I've heard it was a tradition. Thats fine. I just wont be able to make it that day. No big deal. Come to think of it, why couldnt we have it on the saturday before Easter Sunday, or is that when they hold the egg hunt there?
