Arkansas pro solo

Post by m3kerry » Mon Mar 31, 2008 3:21 pm

Any of you guys coming over? Tires and Money..... 96 drivers in so far but we need more. dsp has mostly local guys in it, so there is easy tire money for the taking.

ProSolo gives you way more runs than div/tour events. If you're going to make the drive to run against the best, you might as well get your money's worth.

Heh, but good luck beating Pat Lipsinic in DSP, who has an AWD launch and trophied at Nationals in the highest-placing non-BMW. I think Bob's on 275/35-15 Hoosiers, too.

We had three or four in STX earlier. Not sure why they backed out. An under-prepared Sentra is easy pickings!

If things were about 75% less in turmoil here I would be trying to convince Team Krazo to attend. Only one FSP at this time. :(

Good luck everyone ! :D

I am in the mist of Mini's in G stock.
I am hoping one of the Mini drivers will be blind, that way I might not be last.

The ProSolo doesn't conflict with the OMR regional event the following weekend. If anyone around here wants to experience a National-level event this year, this would be the one, followed by the KC Tour and Nationals itself.

This will be a single-format Pro, but it's faster-paced than any Solo2 and you'll get to launch off a drag tree. Plus, more runs than a Tour/Nats and a burnout before staging is allowed, if that's your thing. Also, it's on concrete. Grip.

Now that I've browsed through some of the classes, there are definitely contingency opportunities. Minimum entries, but no win-killers signed up like a Hollis or Daddio. This is cool because people we know are going to win what are considered top-shelf trophies within this sport. A few hot shoes from outside the area may wait until the last minute to jump on easy prey, it looks like a good time to sign up.

My lone competitor in STX was a WRX, and turned into a E36 BMW. I have a weight advantage, but the launch and handling factor (BMWs can actually fit big 8" wheels, yikes) don't comfort me any more. I need a Subaru for this fight!

I am signed up and planning on going in my Tans Am. If anyone else from Springfield is going and has some extra room, I've got some big tires to transport! I can squeeze them in my car if necessary, but it's tight and heavy.
I hope to see plenty of OMR faces and cars in AR. This is truly a great chance to have some Pro Solo fun and win some cash or tires. I think they pay 2 or 3 places with only 5 entrants in a class.

How much is the entrance fee for the AR event?

I'll get a cash prize for 3rd place??? I would like to go just to get some seat time...perhaps if zoom zoom goes...

I don't know anyone (except Jim, Scott, Chuck, Cutris, Matt, other Matt, then the other other Matt, and Jonathan, etc)

Actually, the question is do I even have a chance

I can't wait until I wear out my tires so I can get some 245/40/18's!

Yeah, scratch that. I just checked the line-up and it's people from all over the country. If it attracts that many, I'm 99% sure I'd finish in the 99 percentile!

I'd be up against another Si, and 3 MINI Cooper S drivers.

If someone good at driving would loan me their brain and reflexes I'd be happy to go

Hey CivicSiguy come on down and we can run each other, and make fun of the Mini's killing me.
I am old, fat and slow so you have a good chance to take me.
Lot of the guys know me up there, I ran a couple of events with you guys.
Hope to see some of you guys there.
Later,

PS: Anyone know what happen to VODOOM? He dropped out.

Bob went home early at the NEOkla autocross a couple of weekends ago with back pain.

Bob, you all right?

Yeah, he couldn't even take his runs and I loaded his car back on the trailer for him after the second heat.

He was hurting pretty bad.

I'm trying to get an early start and be on site around mid-day tomorrow (Friday). Hopefully, flooding won't block any major routes in Arkansas like this morning.

If it's not under water, I'll be staying at a hotel in Newport. For once, I'm hoping this town is in a dry county. ;) Look for the Sentra at the site!

You guys might want to stick to the main roads going into Newport. All the lakes upstream on the White River (which passes next to Newport) are opening their floodgates at once, and they fear waters may crest higher than ever recorded as the water moves downstream for the weekend.

Both US 67 and the airport are high enough to be safe. I was thinking of taking fun roads across the Ozarks to get there, but the final stretch of that route between Batesville and Newport along the White River is already flooded.

Oddly, the South end of the Pig Trail was also flooded this morning. Grr, all the fun drives are under water. NWA guys should probably take I-540 to I-40, and go that way.

What time are you leaving? You could draft off my trailer and save some gas. :P
