2008 Crescent Classic Ferrari meet Sep 11-14

Post by JimR » Fri Aug 15, 2008 1:30 pm

There's some excellent car-watching coming in a few weeks.

The annual Crescent Classic Ferrari meet is back in Eureka Springs during September 11th-14th.

The group typically goes out for a drive and the day's activities, then comes back to the Crescent Hotel for the evening. The parking lot kind of turns into a low-key car show, by no means advertised, but welcome to anyone who respects "look, but don't touch."

I went last year, and it was a candy store for enthusiasts and photographers. I'm thinking Chris and his new DSLR should pay a visit. Eureka Springs is a great drive and a great setting.

Saturday, September 13th is also the annual Brits in the Ozarks automobile and cycle show in Fayetteville. I've been several times, and it has been steadily growing every year.

If you're thinking of a day trip to NW Arkansas, this would be the time.

Killerb -

If you decide to go, make sure to bring some wine and cheese. From your previous postings on the subject of the possible road course in Marshfield, we understand how fond you are of such crowds.

Crescent Classic 2009

Post by cmparr » Wed Aug 19, 2009 1:35 pm

No wine and cheese with the Crescent Classic crowd.... But maybe with the Brit crowd... (I do have a 1966 Mini Cooper Panel truck)

I grew up on these roads and have always felt like this area of Arkansas had some of the best roads in North America.

Our Rally master, Grant Maiman, is a National Skip Barber Champion and winner of the Red Bull Formula One Drivers search program and has raced throughout europe.

Chris Brannon contributed with the Rally for Crescent Classic in 2008.

SPEED TV has done three TV specials on Crescent Classic in the last 5 years with Tom Hnatiw and Peter Klutt.

Manufacturer sponsors include Maserati, Bentley, and 2009, Lotus.

Skip Barber Racing is a sponsor and has entered a Lotus Exige this year.

We have numerous GT2 and GT3 Porsches, significant Ferrari's and Vipers, Corvette's etc... We have had a 288GTO entered and I drove my F40 on 3 different occasions. We even had a prewar Indy Car drive 4 years ago!

This is a challenging, but not competitive, drivers rally and over 300 miles on our primary drive.

We do not allow ego's or fancy clothes, just jeans and a passion for driving.

We would love to have qualified cars and drivers apply for 2010, 2009 is sold out.

No wine or cheese here, well maybe after a few hundred miles...

Ha, beaten to the punch this year. I wonder if our own 308 owner/Magnum P.I. impersonator and Amero-British-Italian-racer-archaeologist tipped off our presence?

Brits in the Ozarks also returns to Agri Park in Fayetteville on Saturday, 9/12. Don't really have to say much more. If anyone wants to daytrip to NW Arkansas, this is always a model weekend. I've gone to both events multiple times and recommend either.

Unfortunately, a number of us will be spending the day towing back from the ever-earlier Solo2 National Championships in Nebraska on that Saturday. I might not see either. All part of my plan to get stuck autocrossing weekly for the rest of my life.

8/16 - OMR regional Solo2, Ozark, MO
8/22-8/23 - MiDiv Solo Series Championships, Lincoln, NE
8/30 - NEOkla regional Solo2, Tulsa, OK
9/8-9/11 - Solo2 Nationals, Lincoln, NE
9/20 - NEOkla regional Solo2, Stroud, OK
9/27 OMR regional Solo2, Neosho, MO
