Auto Cross is a Time Trial type of Competition. One car goes against the clock against other cars in its class. We set up cones in an road race style course with Slolams, Hair Pins, Straights, Braking Thresholds, and Skid Pads. Runs Usually last 39-65 seconds depending on the course allowing 4-6 runs per driver per day. The course is different every time and new course designs or designers are always welcome. No special cars needed, simply pass tech, grab a helmet and find the limits of yourself, your car & your tires.

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is a Car Club that gets gatherings of gear heads of all types involved in many types of motorsports... Road Racing, Rally, Autocross, Hill Climbs, Track Days, Etc ... and the Ozark Mountain Region (OMR) is a local group of gear heads that make it possible for us to have events locally !

... one more for good measure!

Someone needs to step up to run the computer and be event chair!!!

Volunteers for Sunday??

Post by zoomzoom » Wed Sep 24, 2008 7:14 pm

Since Matt G and Scott M may both be absent on Sunday, we'll definitely need help with timing equipment setup and registration. Here are the volunteers so far:

Course Design: Jim R
Registration Trailer: Matt L
Waiver Station am: Chuck B and Don P

We'll need someone with timing equipment and registration experience to help Matt L in the am. Anyone?

Also, do we have a volunteer for SSS?

I'll pick up the usual bottled water and flour on Saturday.

Weather is supposed to be sunny and mid-70's. Ought to be a great day for 6 runs...

Thanks,
Chuck B

Neglected to mention that Curtis W said he would bring the trailer...

If someone could help volunteer in the trailer during registration, that would be a big help to Matt.

While someone keys entries into the laptop, it makes things work better if someone else can help deal with the SCCA temporary memberships, classing questions, and work assignment sign-ups (balance the heats to get coverage for both).

As Jim said help in the trailer would be much appreciated. While having experience would be great that fact remains that none of us know what we are doing the first time we tackle something new, and I will do my best to train a willing volunteer. While nobody is perfect, attention to detail is a necessity when working in the trailer as a mistake made there can cause hours of work later, ask magilson as he knows this better than anyone.

Like Jim said getting the heats even and persons to sign up for the right jobs is going to be the most important thing. If you have a chance here is a link that CrazyDog posted a while back for a demo of the software if you would like to get a look at it (it is about 17mb). https://axwaresystems.com/axwaredemoall.zip

Good news Scott. Matt L will definitely need help setting up the timing gear. I did rebuild the reflector housings, so they won't require any painters tape.

I'm moving up to AS tomorrow. Gotta learn how to drive an AWD car...
