Tuesday, June 2: OMR Solo Committee and BOD meeting

Post by JimR » Tue May 26, 2009 2:19 pm

This month's OMR board meeting is another double feature. We're at crunch time for planning the July 11-12 divisional. The basics in place, so now we need to tie it up and make it happen.

We need input and support. If you can come, please do.

What
The monthly OMRSCCA Board of Directors meeting is every first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. They're a casual open meeting for members and non-members alike, and everyone is welcome to hear and be heard. Have a burger, talk club business, and bench race until you want to go home.

This time, the autocross committee is meeting a little early to talk upcoming events, especially the divisional. A good turnout this month would be excellent.

When
This Tuesday, June 2
- 6:15 PM: OMR autocross committee
- 7:00 PM: OMR Board of Directors meeting

Where
Schultz & Dooley's Too (pub/bar/restaurant)
3512 S National Avenue, Springfield
[Google Maps]
Basically, go North a few blocks off the National exit on the James River Freeway, and it will be in a brown brick shopping center on your right.

I plan on being there, and think it would be a good idea for any of the Divisional volunteers to make it if at all possible. If everyone that is planning on coming please post here so we could get a headcount that would be great. If there is going to be a big turnout we might need to ask Schultz & Dooley's Too for the bigger room in the front.

Brainstorming topics here. If anyone can think of anything else, post it and we'll make sure it gets covered.

Solo group topics:
- Review divisional online registration postings
- Divisional banquet menu choices
- Divisional sanction and other paperwork
- Loaner helmet work position
- June event
- Joomla web publishing tutorial?
- Sponsorship opportunities?
- Web site announcement about June event and August fee change and pre-registration discount

Board topics:
- Funding for additional cones
- Funding for additional loaner helmets
- Status/needs for Solo timing equipment
- Borrow or buy printer for divisional
- What's it cost to make "SCCA -->" or similar signs for directions?
- Sponsorship opportunities?

I would like to discuss the morning waiver station, and the possibility of having 2 separate a.m. shifts.

1 thing I noticed that I think would help things in the trailer would be if we could get 2 driver cars 2 run 2 different heats. That way we don't get number confusions.

Not possible for the divisional event.

Also, FYI - It is very likely that there will be multiple cars across different classes with the same number.

Simple and crude, but effective. The car too.

I'm positive that will be the case. Earlier this year we made it very, very clear that the number policy was for OMR regional events only and could not be applicable to the Divisional we will be hosting.
