MiDiv Event #4 - Lincoln, NE - August 22-23

Registration is now open for the final round of the SCCA Midwest Division Solo series in Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 22-23.

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frm ... t_id=10561

The event will be hosted on the same site as the ProSolo and Solo2 National Championships in early September, so it's going to pull a big turnout. We had quite a few entrants wait until the last minute with Neosho. That won't work with Lincoln - get in early.

Competing in any two of the four divisional events qualifies you for series year-end points. The Neosho divisional was the third of four in the 2009 series, and if you need a second, this is it.

The area used for course at Lincoln will be just shy of double what we had at Neosho. Crowder is a very nice mid-sized site. If you want to see "grande," show up for Lincoln.

Jim, do you know what the entry cap is for this one?

And check your email.

I looked for an entry cap, but one didn't jump out.

We just got an e-mail from Nebraska Region saying they will have trailer storage available between the divisional and Nationals. $30 for indoors, $10 for outdoors.

This will be a big sell for non-MiDiv drivers who have a long haul, but want to do an event on the same surface as a sort of Nationals warm-up. Some of them will bring their rig, then then fly or drive home the week between.

I'm already signed up to be safe.

Yeah, I didn't see one either.

I won't know or be able to decide if I can go until about two weeks prior and I don't want to needlessly take up a spot. I also saw the storage thing and could easily envision 300 drivers at this event. Hence my query regarding the cap.

Just for comparison: there were 61 entries at Blytheville, 79 at Salina, and 83 at Neosho.

There are already 60 signed-up for Lincoln as of 18:00 tonite...........

Today, August 12, is the last day to avoid a late fee for the Lincoln divisional.

Also, Friday afternoon is the beginning of late fees for Nationals.

Late fees for the Lincoln Divisional have been waived. If you paid a late fee, it will be refunded.

Opie and I are signed up now. I see Jim is signed up. What happened to Korry? I see 167 drivers signed up and heard from the registrar that there is at least 180 signed up. We'll probably hit freeway speeds at this event.

I won't be in Lincoln.

This year Korry has generally been some combination of the following:

1) Wrapped up in non-racing personal responsibilities
2) Frustrated with his driving
3) Pissed at his car because it needs work / parts / money that has been put off because he is in school
4) Needing of a break due to the first three

Mid July through the end of August has been / will be my break.

I've recently gotten clearance from my "sponsor" to slowly start working on the car. First on the list is dumping the burned up T2R next weekend.

Make sure you guys make the trip to Neosho on 9/27. Trust me (or PM for details if you like).

Anybody going to the October Blytheville Tour? (Yes, you read that right) http://www.scca.com/event.aspx?hub=3&event=14860

I'm considering it.

AX video of the site?"
That video claims to be Lincoln Airport, but if it is then they must have been using the employee parking for a single terminal. I have not been there but I understand that it is a HUGE lot. I found another video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsPaQUxAko8&NR=1 that would seem more appropriate size wise. Anyone been there yet that could confirm?

Donna Hill told me that the divisional will be using an unobstructed 800x800 ft section of Lincoln Air Park. It's going to be a very nice piece of autocross real estate. I'm excited.

Presumably, Nationals will be using even more space. Howard Duncan of SCCA National said his CS Miata was running about a minute during their test setups.

If you like big, fast courses, you need to be at Lincoln.

Registration closes tonight. Over 180 entrants right now.

Per Donna, Saturday and Sunday will be not only be running different courses, but two completely different 800x800' Solo pads (~1.3 million square feet of concrete).

I take this to mean we'll have two courses up and running concurrently, just like Nationals. Instead of having to slog through one hugh-jass group of 180 drivers each day, that would mean we would two separate groups of 90.

Sounds like fun to me.
