Pitt State Autocross, Oct. 18

Post by budweeks » Fri Sep 25, 2009 11:44 am

Announcement!

Autocross at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS, on Oct. 18.

As reported elsewhere in this forum, it is now official. The Pitt State SAE and Ozark Mountain Region SCCA will host the final autocross of the year for OMR at the parking lot behind Carnie Smith Stadium on the Pitt State campus. This will be run like all the other OMR events as far a schedule and procedure, although it will not be a points event. Please see the http://www.omrscca.org webpage for more info.

This event is on a new site that is about 400x500ft., and grid and parking will not take up any of that space. It is asphalt and has several light poles to one side that we will have to deal with, although most of the lot is open. There is a nice park nearby.

Even though that day is the end of Fall break, (Fall break?! I didn't get any Fall break. The snow was deeper then and...yawn. But I digress.) there will be some local advertising by SAE and PSU and we can expect there will be more onlookers than normal. Any and all help the day of the event will be greatly appreciated, especially with roping off the areas where spectators might be, manning waiver stations, chalking the course, and so forth. There may be some Formula SAE teams come and Pitt State SAE is supposed to do the concessions.

Hope you all can come. Remember, it is a long time until March.

If not I will be there with FRANK!

Only 13 pre-registered as of now, are we going to have enough to run an event?

Everyone please pre-register as it gives and idea of expected turnout and will really speed things up at the trailer in the morning. I hope this cool/dreary weather of the last week hasn't put to many off because Sunday is supposed to be sunny and at least a little warmer.

We are also looking for a couple more "Early AM" volunteers (7-7:30am) to help with unloading and setup. Send me an email if you are somewhat local and would be willing to show up a little early and help setup, it would be much appreciated.

Remember everyone it will be a long time until next year and it looks like this will be the last chance to dodge some cones with the OMR this season. Looking forward to a good turnout and seeing everyone out there on Sunday.

I hadn't registered, but I didn't know which car I was going to drive. Answer: SE-R.

I just replaced the worn-out, broken 190k-mile front swaybar endlinks on the Sentra with some Racing Beat (LOL) pieces handed down from the Miata.

I'm not sure if switching from the OE ball-joint design to a urethane piece will cause any binding, but the price was right and the fit was strangely perfect.

I'll try to be there around 7:30 AM.

I was the 21st person to pre-register.

If the turnout is on the light side, that means lots of runs plus fun runs? Hmm. Haven't done those in a while because we offer so many runs to begin with.

I believe the board vote (about a year ago?) was two fun runs for $5. I'm going to bring some fivers just in case.

According to Rodger Grantham, it is just uncanny how many pieces from one Mazda fit on other Mazdas. Your links are just one more example.

I think we'll have about 50 at Pitt State. The big unknown is students and local folks.

It will be sunny and fairly mild.

Mazda parts are designed so well that they even fit on Nissans. ;)

Bah. I'm backing out of this one.

The car still isn't running right and I'd like to check a few more things before I run it.

Besides..... I'm up to my neck with schoolwork.

Saw this too late, but I have too much schoolwork anyway. Thanks Bobby.

However, in the future...umm... hell yeah.

Keep me in mind the next time you want to use up some tires Bobby. We can work something out. :D
