dirctions to Pitt State sTaduim
Bud, could you post a street address for where the autocross will be, so we can put it into our GPS units.
I check the link posted, and the driving directions that are listed, they have you making a U-turn at a farm house, which has fallen down according to the picture
Then going the wrong way on a one way street at the college.

Hello Greg and anyone else who wants to GPS their way to Pitt State,
There are three addresses listed for Pitt State: 1701 S. Broadway, 103 E. Cleveland, and 302 E. Cleveland. That is all well and good but none of them will actually get you to the stadium parking lot. Close but no cigar.
Here's the easiest way. GPS probably knows this. I know quicker ways, but you probably don't want to take farm roads. From Springfield, take 96 off I-44 just west of Halltown. Go through Carthage, and stay on 96---watch for where it exits the 4-lane hwy 71. Continue west on 96 about 15 miles to the intersection of 171. Turn right (northwest) and follow that into Kansas (railroad on your left). At the intersection of 171, 400, and 69, turn right (north) on 69, and go three miles to Centennial Ave. (first stoplight). The mall (yes, Pittsburg has a mall) will be on your right and a cemetery on your left. Go about 4 blocks and turn left on Joplin St. (stoplight), go straight north (about 6 blocks) until you see the stadium on your right, then turn right the next time you have an opportunity. You're there!
For those coming from the south, 71 into Joplin changes into 249 or 549(or something like that), but the freeway just continues. After 5 miles or so, you'll see a sign for 171 and a ramp left. You'll have to wade through several stop lights and past the Joplin airport. Stay on 171 and it will take you to Kansas. Then the other directions apply.
Hope this helps.

Looks like I'll be there.
As of tonight the car is back together and moves under its own power. I'll apologize right now to all the corner workers (and late sleeping university students) I'm about to piss off Sunday.
The car is just obnoxiously loud when the right foot gets planted. I'll have to address that / quiet it down over the winter. Right now though, it's almost funny how ridiculous it sounds.

Simple and crude, but effective. The car too.

Exiting to Highway 96 at Halltown takes you past an old, narrow alignment of Route 66. There's a neat old Sinclair station along this North parallel. Old 66 then crosses over 96 and turns right to go over a truss bridge at a defunct town called Spencer, then hooks back up with 96. Something to check out if you have a couple of minutes to spare.

Might as well get in your "last hurrah" with an obnoxious car - SCCA is probably going to start enforcing the sound-level policy next year; at the Divisional and above, at least.Ironhead wrote:Looks like I'll be there.

Yeah right, I was looking at the sounds board, and in EM there were cars that were 110db!Bullitt2954 wrote:Might as well get in your "last hurrah" with an obnoxious car - SCCA is probably going to start enforcing the sound-level policy next year; at the Divisional and above, at least.Ironhead wrote:Looks like I'll be there.

Bobby, how did that thing run before you got it tuned? Did you even run it with the stock tune?
After installing longtube headers and an offroad Y on mine, it's..... soft. At the very least it doesn't feel very much better than before.
Runs fine, pulls clean. Just no punch.
I did put fresh valve springs in as well but I'm confident there's no problem there with the preload / lash.
I'm starting to check the obvious stuff but it does still have the stock tune (which I planned to address ASAP anyway). Was wondering what yours was like pretune.

Here is what changed before and after the tune.
