OMR will be hosting Evolution Performance Driving School autocross driver training at the Neosho Crowder College site on March 27 and March 28 2010.
Evo is the country's premier autocross training institution. Instructors are national champions and national championship contenders. A significant fraction of solo and pro solo champions are Evo graduates.
See the Evo site
www.evoschool.com for a full description of the classes. They call each one-day a course a "phase," and naturally phase 1 is followed by phase 2, then phase 3. We're offering only phase 1 and phase 2.
Each phase is a full day, but can stand alone. You can attend phase 1 on saturday and then phase 2 on sunday for the full-meal deal, at $500. Or you can choose just phase 1 on saturday for $275, or just phase 1 on sunday, also $275. If you've already attended a phase 1, or want a refresher of previous evo schools you've attended, you can also take phase 2 on saturday (also $275--note the trend?)
For the first couple weeks, these classes are available only to OMR members. Registration will be open to the public later.
these links will take you directly to the Evo registration page. Their method is to select a course and put it in your shopping cart, then the check out is the normal web-purchase kind of thing.
Be sure to make the right selection if you want the 2-day deal, it's a separate item on the available courses list.
NOTE: there's a minor hitch in these links. When you follow them, the page you arrive on will show a message that the course has been added to your cart. The message is not accurate, you'll have to go ahead and add the course from the registration page. Note the shopping cart in the upper right section of the page.
Both P1 and P2 at $500:

This is gonna be a lot of fun. The only down fall is that Sara and I decided it's too much $ for us both to attend, especially since we need new rubber already. I still don't know who will get to attend because neither one of us will budge an inch.

OMR's first goal in taking on this school is to provide the local membership with a professional driving school at the most reasonable cost we can host it. Our cost structure is pretty much a break-even affair with a slim buffer against loss for no-shows.
I just signed up for Saturday Phase 2. It's still the best upgrade you can make for the money. With us hosting an EVO at the very beginning of the autocross season, this is a killer setup.
Right now is a grace period for OMR members to get priority sign-up. Once the school has been sufficiently announced locally, we'll open it up to the SCCA membership at large, and hopefully fill up all the student slots from surrounding areas quickly.

Just signed myself up for Phase 1 and 2 and Natasha is taking Phase 1. I wanted to make sure to get in before the grace period is up, because I have a feeling it might fill up rather quickly once open to the public. I have heard nothing but positive things about the EVO school, and I am really looking forward to it. I hope that there will be plenty of others there from the OMR.

Last nite, I signed up for phase1 saturday. I chose the pay by mail option, hoping this would reserve my spot while I pony up the funds? I guess I'll know when I see the due date on the bill.

Jason, that should work to reserve your spot. i think you're safe, but will check w/Evo to be sure.
2-day, $500 deal

be sure to use the link that combines the 2 days (phase 1 saturday + phase 2 sunday), to get the discounted $500 deal.
there are separate links for each one day phase, and one for the combined two-day.
please let me know if you have problems with the links.

Just signed Jeanie and myself for both days. That was a hard one to swallow, but I believe it will both benefit us more than the cost, and will be cheaper in the long-run.
(I figure "traveling" to say the Divisional in Lincoln or St. Louis and doing a phase 1 for the both of us would run us an additional $700-$800 over the event-cost. might as well just tack on another $200 and "get it over with" for both classes)
Stan - do you still have the two of us down for Safety Steward for both days?

Hey Guys
Sara & I decided to both do phase one. Does anyone know if it would be better for one of us to go Saturday and the other to go Sunday. I would prefer to both go the same day, but would I have time to rotate tires in between lessons? Would it be to hard on our car to jam it into one day.
Scott, It sounds like your gonna run the piss out of your car that weekend but I'm kinda scared to do that.LOL

Honestly, you could both do the school on the same day but I think it would probably be easier if one did Saturday and one did Sunday. Both from the tire rotation perspective and the driver's focus perspective.
I did a Phase 1 and 2 earlier this year in St. Louis. I had grand ideas of rotating tires at lunch each day and at the end of the first day. I rotated them at lunch on the first day and then realized I was stupid for thinking that was going to happen two more times. It didn't.
I went up there intending to give it everything I had on every run. I did, but the result was that I was mentally and physically whipped long before the weekend was over. The extent of my work on the car became emptying the fuel jug into the filler neck.
IMO you'll be better off separating your days. For perspective, I think I got ~55 runs over the course of two days. ~ 30 just in Phase 1. You really want to work some tire rotations into that?
FWIW, I believe I'll be getting in on this. At least for a Phase 2 but possibly for 1 and 2. I was on the fence debating whether or not to do the Challenge school earlier in March in St. Louis but this is a lot closer.
