2012 Solo rule changes - be aware

Post by JimR » Fri Oct 21, 2011 8:54 am

There are a number of changes on the table for 2012, so be aware, especially if you compete in Stock, Street Touring, or one of the faster Street Prepared classes. For example:

Stock - ability to modify either front OR rear swaybar.
Street Touring - new late-model/lower-tier class, National-level classifications.
Street Prepared - revised class structure for SSP, ASP, BSP, CSP

The Solo Board Board (SEB) is composed of volunteer autocrossers who help guide rules changes based on member input and drive to increase participation. Rules don't happen in a vacuum, but because people ask for them to happen. If you have an issue, you have to sound it out.

Background/draft of proposed 2012 rule changes:

November FasTrack bulletin goes into more detail:

When the SEB recommends changes, they usually get approved by the SCCA for the following year. What you read in the November FasTrack has been out for member comment for much of the year, and is likely to become the word for 2012.

Don't show up surprised next Spring if you didn't stay up on the rules!

Jim... any hints or rumors on rally-x rule changes for 2012? Is there going to be a change in SR and PR classes?

The RallyX FasTrack is on SCCA.com, and I scanned it briefly. It looks like the only major change on the table right now is possibly expanding Mod class to FWD (MF), AWD (MA), and RWD (MR).

I don't think Prepared will be affected beyond formally allowing aftermarket radiators of a certain kind.
