FWD differential installation experts?

Post by JimR » Thu Sep 19, 2013 7:45 pm

I'm looking at getting an aftermarket helical differential over the winter to replace the stock viscous unit in my '92 Sentra SE-R. It's a pretty straightforward front wheel drive manual gearbox to work on.

Where I'd be over my head is measuring and setting differential preload with appropriate shims. I lack the experience or gauges to do this. When installing a different diff with fresh side bearings, I want to make sure the preload is correct.

Anyone know a good person for this?

I know that Billy Young (NEOKLA) does RWD diff work, and I think transmission work - but I do not know if he does FWD.

That's the only semi-local person I could think of off the top of my head.

It looks like the differential is going to production and should be hitting my doorstep pretty soon.

Anyone else have local suggestions?
