Pre-Autocross Checklist
Getting Ready for an OMRSCCA Autocross Event

Before You Leave
  • Review start times and set your alarm.
  • Review the entry fee. You can pay with cash or check.
  • Check driver's license expiration date, and if applicable, annual SCCA membership expiration date.
  • Pre-register online (here's how) by Friday at 11:59 PM. You don't pay until you arrive, and it gets you a $10 discount at registration. Even if you ultimately can't make it, signing up online causes no extra work for us. Walk-up entries take much longer to manually enter into the computer.
  • Visit OMRSCCA web site and Facebook page for any last-minute updates. SCCA autocross will usually run if a chance of rain is forecasted, but threat of severe weather or ice may change things.
  • Browse the entry list on MotorsportReg. Familiarize yourself with new names to get to know new people.
  • Batteries charged in phone, cameras, cordless impact, etc. Memory cards present and ready to record.
  • Air tank filled if you use one.
  • If you don't know your car's class, check the rules or ask for help on the forums or Facebook.
  • Read the Novice handout if you're new.
  • Fill out, print, and sign a Crowder College waiver ahead of time to speed up your entry to the autocross site.
  • Competitors under 18: have both parents sign a Minor Waiver in front of a notary, or have them both sign it in person at the event.
Vehicle Prep
  • Check fluid levels and tire pressures.
  • Make sure wheel bearings, steering components, and suspension bolts pass the “shake” test. Wiggle the top of the wheels to check for play.
  • Check battery tie-down tightness. This is a common miss that we find during tech inspection.
  • Take out any loose junk that you don't need to bring.
  • Enough fuel?
Stuff You Should Bring
  • Comfortable, close-toed shoes
  • Cooler with water
  • Driver's license
  • Entry fee money
  • Food or lunch money
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • SCCA card if annual member
  • Sunscreen
  • Tire gauge
  • Weather-specific layers and gear (hot, cold, rain, etc.)
Good Ideas
  • Face cleaner, wipes, etc.
  • Folding chair
  • Glass cleaner and towel
  • Gloves if handling dirty tires or helping stack cones
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Jack, jack stands, wheel lock keys, torque wrench, etc., if changing tires
  • Lip balm
  • Medications, tissues, etc.
  • Tarp to shield loose belongings if rain in forecast
  • Basic tools
We have loaner helmets, but most people eventually buy a Solo-legal one of their own. We also usually have a roll of blue painter's tape in case you need to make numbers, but if you have a blue or dark colored car, buying a roll in a contrasting color doesn't hurt. When you're ready, also consider reusable magnetic numbers.
