I receive emails thru Outlook Express.

Sometime Friday, the many pages of messages stored in my "Archived Mail" and "Sent Messages" folders disappeared. Norton Antivirus scanned my computer between 9 PM and 10:30 PM Friday night.

Any ideas? Can I retrieve these messages? There is no "empty" tab associated with these email folders so I don't see how I could have accidentally deleted pages and pages of email messages.

Crisis Averted! Wife was able to retrieve folders using Norton SystemWorks "Unerase Wizzard."

I still don't understand what created problem in the first place.

You might want to change your 'Store Folder' for Outlook Express. First, create a folder in My Documents called 'Outlook Express E-mail' (or whatever you want to name it). Next, while in Outlook Express, go to Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store Folder, and then browse for the folder you created in the first step.

By doing this, your e-mails will be stored in My Documents, which (hopefully) you backup occasionally.

I pull mine from outlook also. Have a heavy firewall that uses very little memory. Every so often, Outlook Zips and sends dead files to the trash can. You may want to look there.
