FS: 1999 Porsche Boxster

Post by Curtis » Mon Oct 12, 2009 4:55 pm

This is the Red Boxster seen with the Wood kids behind the wheel at OMR SCCA Solo events. I need to sell it this Winter , or next Spring at the latest, to fund purchase of a "regular" car my daughter can take to college. We are considering a Honda Element.

1999 Porsche Boxster - Red/Tan, approx 65,000 miles, manual with pretty much all available options including leather and carbon dash, power seats, sport suspension, quick shifter, and larger 17" wheels. NADA is 15,000 + whatever the desirable 17" Porsche sport wheels are worth.

This could be a killer A stock Solo car. Despite it's Michelin all season radials Bobbi Jason Pax'd this car in the top 10 at the last Duck's Solo and ran times comparable to the "fast guys" that day.

So here is what I would recommend. Buy it for the little lady's Xmas present. She'll love you, and love tooling around with the top down in a cool car. Now your all set to borrow it on Sundays.

Great Car, well maintained, I have no qualms about selling to a club member or friend. $14,900

What go to school in a Element and not the Porsche? Where is the cool factor in that? Elements are Y2K version of the VW bus, hippie mobile.

It was a seriously fun little car. Actually has made Lacey consider the Cayman S as a potetnial next car, as a more practical solution than a Elise.

It was very much like driving the MR2 with a little more growl. I would have died to drive it on R's.

Bobbi,

With the top up it is a Cayman :-) Save you a whole big bunch of dollars. It will be here at the Tombstone Bonfire if you and Lacey want to take it for a spin or for that matter actually drive the contest in it.

Yes it does, guy in joplin has a a '01 S, with 35k, 6sp, new rubber, asking $9800. I don't mean to burst your bubble, just wanted to let you know. That is crazy cheap, must need a big maintnance service with no warranty. Good luck with your sale.

Mulkio,

Could you please post a link to the ad or a phone number for that Boxster S ? I did a Craigslist and a newspaper search and could not find it. I have talked to others besides Bobby that are interested but do not know how to find it.

If it is in 35K mile condition without title stories and really not a Tiptronic, thats $2000 less than it would bring on ebay in less than 12 hours. Anyway if someone in the club could snag a deal like that I certainly wouldn't care if they did not buy mine.

Please post the details and thanks in advance,

The car was at Noland's Auto Trim, 210 West 19th, Joplin,417-623-5854.
I drove by today to check it out again, it wasn't there. Might be inside the garage(raining). I just read the window sign monday, didn't speak with anyone. As i recall, 2001 Boxter S, dark blue, 35-36k miles, 6spd,newer dunlop sports(can't remember which model), asking $9800.00. I also thought this quote was odd, "one owner at a time", maybe an attempt at humor. I wonder if this is a salvage title, sounds to good to be true. I pm'd RacinAlt last night, you find anything out? Although I don't like the idea of running against you in C stock, guess I better pick my game up this season.

C-Stock is going to be a great battle with the RX-8, 370Z, MX-5 MSR, and 986 Boxster a la Curtis'.

A sub-$10k Boxster with 36k miles sounds like a wreck or theft recovery.

Update:
Car is still there, saw it outside today. Sure looks nice, not wrecked at all.
It is a 6 speed manual, asking $9800.00.

I stopped looked.

Poor panel fit, questionable trim details, uncertifiable odo reading, and a salvage title, note I said SALVAGE TITLE which means it has not only been wrecked and repaired but that the damage was so extensive that the insurance company chose to right the car off as unrepairable.

If the repairs were carefully documented, and you could confirm they were done correctly, this might be a great deal for someone that plans to keep and use the car forever....keeping in mind you'll never be able to sell or trade it for much with that history.
