Got Dave Horst's old 1987 MR2. It's butchered on weight reduction. Right now, it does not have a cage. Please tell me what class it is in. With and without a cage.
Thanks guys.

My cousin rode in a camaro at the race today and he's hooked.

Weird considering he wasn't at the Killer B Racing BBQ last night. All of us are going to start running auto X due to cost.

Depending on the details, it's either in one of the Prepared or Modified classes.

The SCCA has the Solo rulebook online:

Maybe someone more up on the higher classes could chime in.

It's got DM on the doors. Is that D Modified? Any help is great.

Now I'm not seeing any D mod in the rulebook. What am I missing here? :?

The Modified class rules are on page 222 of the PDF file, or page 206 of the book itself.

Thanks Jim. I finally found it. That rulebook is an abortion. It's 300 pages every year. And it's about as specific as mud. It reads about the same as the NASCAR rulebook. How on earth do you guys keep current on that crap when every circle track in the area can list the rules per class on one page?

Rodney Collins stripped down Miata runs in DP. There are not to many limitations. The bigest one I noticed was you can do most anything to the engine except change the crank shaft

No denying the Solo rulebook is a monster. Some people spend all day arguing classing and trivial rules on the Internet (*cough*).

The Modified class rules looked pretty simple to me. Minimal restrictions, less rules to break.

The rules are aimed at keeping everyone honest at the National level, where competitors can get a little too serious. Bottom line, if you have safe car, don't worry about where it fits. We're more about fun at the regional level, and we'll help you find a class.

That sounds good. Safety is my#1. You can't win if you are dead. 8)
I would like to roll at a national level club racing, but time and cash (due to fuel prices) limits that.
It's kind of insane anyway running in ozark. The MR2 has a 1 gallon fuel cell. Cam 2 we'll say $8 to fill up. Run an autox $35 bucks. Fuel to haul it down there $50. :? The cost of hauling cost more than the racing itself.
I don't get it. I'm used to the you show up to race, get your gas hauling money back and then you can pay out of pocket the damage to your car.
