Possible New Lot for Autocrosses!!!

Post by AutoXChris » Sun Nov 18, 2007 2:29 pm

The other night, a small group of us met up at Jonathans, to organize a Solo2 Committee. And we discussed a lot of things. We have talked, kicked around and never really did anything about looking at the Fairgrounds Parking lot here in Springfield. Charles (Zoom-Zoom) suggested we scope it out again. So today... AT 12pm, I dropped by and Photoged the place.

Here is the log (Via Google Earth)
Noted are spots i took pictures from:

Tires will not be an issue. Its part of a small program the city is doing and was told that they where going to be picked up today.
Looks like a great lot. Very smooth, well maintained. I think we have a good candidate for a lot for next year.

Full sizes of the images above can be seen at

Click on the small image, click on the normal sized image. and you will get the full size image for better detail.

Good jerb!

Even if we can't get this site, or at least not right away, I think we made a lot of progress towards next year.

#1 issue. The person running the Ozark Empire Fairground, is retireing at the end of this year... So Talking to the person incharge right now is going to get a foot in the door, but who is to say the next guy will allow it.

Received this e-mail from SCCA

Greetings,

The Solo Site Acquisition Committee (SSAC) is contacting you since you checked "SOLO" as your main interest on your last membership renewal. As the name implies, we are a committee of individual SCCA members who love Solo and want to help find more Solo sites.

We know that many regions already have tools or processes that help them acquire sites for their Solo program and we have already gathered some of your information. Our concept is that a region should not have to "reinvent the wheel" for site acquisition but should have access to techniques that have worked in other locations. The SSAC wants to be a clearinghouse of information and techniques for site acquisition as well as assisting individual regions. However, we suspect there's a lot more information out there, as well as more regions with site acquisition needs.

PLEASE CONTACT US:

We know there are regions that either conduct great local events, or are not able to conduct events due to lack of a suitable site. Also, it has been said that Soloists are content to remain “under the radarâ€
