Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA BOD 4/7/09 Meeting called to order by R.E. Curtis Wood. Members present: Curtis Wood, Jeff Moore, Sam Henry, Matt Gilson, Jim Rowland, Bud Weeks, Loren Moore, Matt Longpine, and several others including representatives from Reliable Imports of Springfield. Treasurers report: balance--$XXXX.XX This figure does not include expenses from the last autocross that will total about $XXX. There are water and sodas left over from the event. Motion to approve by Jeff, second by Matt G. Motion passed. Report: Errors and Omissions insurance; Rick Meyers says that the region is probably OK. Midiv discussion: Reliable Imports is interested in setting up a display with their truck and a few cars. They will provide water and some prizes, give-aways, etc. They could probably provide some shade--a big tent. They will see what they can do. Discussion of making sure there is no conflict with the formal Midiv sponsors. Discussion of Solo Supplementals: presently drivers points are awarded, for both class championships and PAX championship, based on where the driver actually finished, regardless if a out-of-region person finished ahead. In other words, someone who finished second to someone from another region, would only get second place points. This policy is in agreement with the opinion of the BOD. Discussion of Solo Supplementals re: counting the Midiv as a OMR events for points. The rationale is that it would be an incentive for OMR members to participate. Motion to have the Midiv count for points as an OMR event by Bud, second by Matt G. Motion passed. Discussion of Rookie of the Year award: rookie could be man or woman, is based on PAX index. Discussion of OMR trailer: one valve stem failed at the last autocross, causing damage to the trailer fender, and all the other valve stems are bad as well. Motion to get prices to replace tires with trailer tires and new valve stems by Matt G., second by Curtis. Motion passed. Motion to fix trailer fender too by Sam, second by Curtis. Motion passed. Discussion: check on tagging trailer and getting inspected. Discussion of Solo timing equipment: JA Circuits equipment costs about $1600--does not include lights. It was reported that the 4-State Corvette club bought an AxWare system including lights and software for $1536. The downside to this system is that no other SCCA regions use it--they all use JA Circuits. Discussion of need to have a back-up timing system. Matt G. will be checking out the options. Discussion of next autocross: will use the old timing equipment. The sanction is done. Discussion on raising entry fee to $25 but giving a $5 discount for pre-registration (or a late fee for not pre-registering). Motion to implement at the May event by Matt G., second by Jim. Motion passed. Discussion of the rationale to have different color arm bands, and the requirement that passengers fill out a membership application (but don't have to pay): that there is a need to identify drivers, passengers, non-participants, and children (under 12). Also discussed was the need to make a good effort to have passengers fill out the application. Motion to use 4 colors of arm bands beginning in May by Matt G., second by Jim. Motion passed. Discussion of free entry to whoever brings the equipment to the April event. Discussion of bathrooms for the April event and for volunteers for the waiver station. Discussion of the Midiv event: who will be event chairman. Motion that Jim Rowland be event chair by Jeff, second by Curtis. Motion passed. Discussion of lodging and banquet facilities and catering options in Neosho for the Midiv. Discussion of approaching the Neosho Chamber of Commerce to see what support they might offer for the event, what the value might be to Neosho. Jim will contact the Neosho C of C. Discussion of OMR selling segmented magnetic strips that would be purchased by solo competitors to use as numbers to improve visual identification at events. Matt L. will look into possibility and check Solo II rules. Discussion of problems caused by a competitor over the past several years, and of the potential problems that could occur. The competitor, Brad Seaman, has been banned from events in the past for doing burnouts and not working his assignments during solo events. He has been warned numerous times, and it again happened at the most recent event in Neosho. Discussion of how his behavior could jeapardize the whole solo program. Motion to exclude Mr. Seaman for the 2009 season by Jeff, second by Loren. Motion passed. Statement from the OMR BOD: that the board appreciates the active participation of all members. Motion to adjourn by Jeff, second by Sam. Motion passed. Respectfully submitted, Bud Weeks, OMR Secretary.
