Minutes of the Board of Directors of the Ozark Mountain Region of the Sports Car Club of America from March 5, 2013. Members present: RE Curtis Wood, Jeff Moore, Matt Longpine, Bud Weeks, Tim Datema, Justin Huffman, and Sam Henry, plus 7 other SCCA members. Call to order: Curtis. Secretary's report: motion to waive the reading of the minutes by Jeff, second by Tim. Passed. Treasurer's report: Motion to accept the report by Matt, second by Jeff. Passed. Discussion of e-mail list for BOD business: per Matt, the list is at the limit for characters (not individuals, although they are characters) so that e-mail addresses must be shorter to add any more people to the list. Autocross report: first autocross of the year will be on March 24. Justin will organize equipment, Don will get power sweeper again if possible, Bud will set up course, and Matt will check Motorsports.reg. In addition, Matt will order rulebooks for OMR use and Bud will publicize the upcoming season and individual events in the Springfield News-Leader and the Joplin Globe. It was decided to invite the local BMW club to the March autocross and to offer free weekend memberships to those BMW members that participate. Rallycross report: first event will be on March 17 at Lebanon, MO. It is unknown at this time who will be able to haul the trailer so that will be resolved by e-mail as people check their schedules. Discussion of supporting FSAE programs in some way. It was a consensus that OMR, being a small region, has enough scheduled at this time to consider adding any more events or activities. Discussion of OMR business cards and how effective they are in getting people interested in joining OMR. No consensus reached. Street Survival School plans: Bill Rinke was in attendance and contributed information and ideas. The event will be on May 18 at the Ducks lot. We will need approx. 35 workers (some can be parents) and water to wet the surface. It is desireable to have a 1:1 ratio of students per instructor. Bill says that MDOT can help get the Missouri Highway Patrol to be involved. Scott Woosley will contact a trooper he knows about participating. In addition, Bill contributed the following information: --Linda Duncan with SCCA is the region's prime contact and that she can get experienced classroom instructors to help the first time we put on a school. She also will send out media alerts. --Joe Rickman with the MDOT Coalition will be invited to OMR's first SSS event. --Insurance is free to the region and that the certificate will come in digital form one week before the event. --Grant money of $750 will come after the school is over. --MDOT Coalition may also provide some funds to help. It is hoped that we have 20 students for our first SSS event. Workers should be SCCA members and it was discussed that OMR donate weekend memberships for volunteers. Discussion of the timing of the SSS event with the May autocross which is scheduled for May 19, the next day, at Crowder College. It was decided that it would be an advantage if the autocross was held on the same lot as the SSS so that the trailer and equipment did not have to be moved, saving time and energy. Justin will contact the lot managers to change the schedule. Motion to adjourn by Jeff, second by Matt. Passed.
