I just shut pre-registration down, thank you to all 35 that pre-registered. Unfortunately we did miss 9 of the first 16 registrants due to website issues, but since it is fixed now it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

BIG thanks to the Woods, Creeches, Jacob Eiken, and Matt Longpine for sticking around a couple of extra hours to get Bob's Neon on a trailer. That's really above and beyond.

If you didn't get to see it, during my last run the Neon had a catastrophic hub failure in the middle of the turnaround, causing the right front wheel to part ways with the rest of the car.

The heat and stress from 275-width Hoosiers, aftermarket diff, stronger axles, and (we're guessing) a failing wheel bearing caused the hub to sheer off near the axle bolt. The RF fender, brake rotor, and lower ball joint were the other casualties. All fixable, but the car will stay in Springfield for the time being. Unfortunately, no Neon at Salina next weekend.

Not that there's any good time for a wheel to fall off, but it happening at the very slowest point on the course was a lucky break. Literally. The car scraped a drama-free 15 feet before coming to rest.

Getting out of the hobbled car and watching the corner worker chase down the still-rolling wheel was one of those magic moments that I will remember forever.

EDIT((( I made an annoucement yesterday afternoon but wanted to mention it here for anyone that didn't hear it. All the trophy winners can pick up there trophies during the trophy presentation at the next Regional event in August, we will have a printed list and do trophies for both events. )))EDIT

As many of you already know we had a connection issue this morning with the laptop (a physically broken connector that couldn't be repaired on site, we found it at lunch). I just input all of the times in the computer tonight and while I cannot yet post them in the nice tables that we normally use because of website issues, I have went ahead and posted them here. They are a little harder to read but still have the same info.

Thanks to all that helped, I hope everyone had a good time even if it was a warm today.

To say the least, yesterday was a long hot day for many of us. I feel a little better after seeing there were 50 entrants, many bizzare event stoppages (why would someone think it was ok to just drive an enormous van through an event like that?) and we still got done about 4:00. Anyhow I hope everyone had a good time and would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Curtis Wood and family. All of the running around during the entire event making sure we have the supplies that are needed is just great, all the effort into carting around the trailer, and all of the other time and effort that you put into the club is much appreciated.

We had a great time as usual. Sorry we couldn't stick around longer to help with clean up etc., but my butt is broke literally, from a jump off a cliff at Tablerock and I was hurtin pretty bad by the end of the day. The course was great Jim, and I hate the misfortune you had to deal with.

Hey Y'all,

Jim, great course! It was fun, it flowed, it demanded that you pay attention, it was fast enough, it was safe, etc., etc. I could see the course much better than usual at speed. Perhaps that was because the course was coming at me slower in the Mini than in the Mustang. Perhaps it was because the spacing was just a little longer than usual. It was marked well too. At any rate, it was super.

Good job Nick! When I was watching the 2nd heat I thought that Nick's runs looked really good. Now I know why. The PAX race this year is going to be interesting.

Too bad about the Neon. However, I'm always grateful when an event is completed with no one getting hurt.

This was my Dad's first event. He had a blast even though he did run off course a couple times. (I could see the fear in the eyes of corner 3 workers on his first run) As always you guys put on a great event and make great use of the lot.

The back section of the lot was abbreviated and busier this time to avoid some new craters this month on the asphalt they just repaired over the Winter. That was a bit disappointing, but better safe than sorry. You never know when some yahoo will lose a wheel.
